Green Leaf Tree Care offers a full range of services in tree trimming, pruning, thinning, lacing, height reduction, complete removal, stump grinding, damage repair, hedging, shaping, and planting. We also provide consultation, annual maintenance and tree inventories. We serve both residential properties and commercial clients, including homeowner associations and local school districts.
A Family Business for Over 30 Years
In 1980, while living in the Midwest, Ted and Christine Huffman began Green Leaf as a sole proprietorship. Upon returning to Southern California in 1982, they became a leading tree and landscape service to the Inland Area for 16 years. In 1998, they brought the company to San Diego and “put down roots.” Green Leaf Tree Care currently serves San Diego and surrounding areas.

Green Leaf Tree Care is dedicated to providing San Diego with quality workmanship in both the tree service industry and in landscape maintenance. With quality at the core of our business style, we have kept education in the green industry at the forefront for our crew members as well as for our clients. Cutting-edge research in standards for tree health and proper pruning is essential to our business philosophy, so that expectations and final results are the same for both worker and client.
Customer needs have also driven us into new areas of diversification. We have initiated a Weed Abatement & Fire Clearance division to service both commercial property and private residential. We now offer Monthly Landscape Maintenance services, and we have also added Plant Health Care & Consultation to our list, to provide specialized care to our valued customers.

We have a large Mexican fan palm inventory here at our property. I secured three bids for the portfolio of work and Ted was not low bidder. However, I wanted to work with him due to his reputation as an honest and quality provider. Ted worked with us and our budget, massaging pricing as required, to secure the contract. The logistics of our property were/are difficult. His staff followed our plan and got the work done efficiently, exceeding my expectations. Really helped!
Had Green Leaf Tree Care out 2 years ago was very pleased with their work. Our very old pepper tree was in bad shape and so recently when I needed it trimmed again I called Green Leaf and was told it looked so much better now not to trim it as much as I would have suggested. They're the experts so it was taken care of just a couple of days ago and is a happy tree! Also, on the spur of the moment I asked if a small portion of our hedge could be trimmed down and it was done on the spot. No problem. Green Leaf is the best!
When we bought our house in Eastlake late in 2009, the palm trees were in dire need of attention. We contacted Ted at Green Leaf and his crew did an excellent job of trimming the trees, removing the old husks, and then cleaning up the debris. Now in 2011, we needed the palms to be trimmed again, so Green Leaf was the only company we considered calling. The crew arrived on time, did an excellent job, and once they were done, the palms looked fantastic. We highly recommend Green Leaf be the first company for anyone to call when they need tree work done.

A company with integrity and skill
Green Leaf Tree has trimmed my huge Brazilian Pepper tree in the past. They did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. Their price was fair and competitive. When I recently called to see if the tree needed trimmed again, they didn't try to con me. I was told it didn't need to be trimmed until late fall or winter. I was pleasantly surprised to find an honorable owner who, in spite of the bad economy, did not try to sell me a service i don't yet need. I will definitely call them when I have tree maintenance needs.

GREAT SERVICE
Ted Huffman came out to my house and gave me a professional evaluation of the tree in my front yard. I was concerned about it, and he gave me some excellent information about taking care of it. I offered to pay him for his time and expertise and he declined, saying that since he only gave an opinion and didnt end up doing any labor, he was fine providing the service gratis. I will definitely go back to this merchant for future needs, concerns and service for my trees.

Ten Years of Great Service
I have used Green Leaf for several years for tree trimming and tree removal on two different properties. Most recently they removed a large laurel tree from my back yard. The workers were very careful to remove a portion of my fence before removing the tree, and then carefully replaced it when they were through. They removed the tree one section at a time in order to pose no danger to my house or my neighbors' houses. They also laced a large ficus tree - It looks gorgeous! I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Creative Works of Art
I have nothing but good things to say about Green Leaf Tree Care. I found the entire process from the initial estimate to the final clean up to be prompt, friendly, professional, and attentive to my requests. I enjoyed watching the expert trimmers who climbed the trees (one was a huge eucalyptus) and did everything carefully by hand rather than using heavy equipment. As a result, the trees don't look chopped up. They look like creative works of art. I LOVE looking at them!!! Green Leaf Tree Care gets my highest recommendation.

Reliable and Professional
From the initial appraisal appointment to the removal of my redwood tree, I was very pleased with the service rendered by Green LeafTree Care. Highly Recommend Greenleaf!
Greenleaf did a great job on multiple trees on my property. They removed three trees and ground stumps, you would never know the tree or the trimmers were there! They removed messy Pepper and Willow branches and trimmed my beautiful pine trees perfectly. And the price is right. I highly recommend them.

A Business with Integrity
We've had experience with several tree firms who use workers who clearly know nothing about trees nor aesthetics. We call them the "hack and slashers" and never use them twice. Our first experience with Greenleaf could have been a disaster because a tree came down in an unexpected direction and damaged a wall, deck and BBQ. Greenleaf management were so responsible and conscientious in repairing everything that we now use them exclusively and recommend them to our friends. Their crew is knowledgeable, polite, efficient and a real pleasure to have around. Best of all, they actually LISTEN to your needs and see that they are met.

Great job on our Ash Tree!
We were hesitant to have a large Ash tree in our yard trimmed as we've seen many "hack jobs" on trees. We wanted to have a crown reduction and trimming of the tree while still preserving the tree's form. Ian and crew did a wonderful job on the tree! It is beautifully shaped and artistically trimmed. No hack job here! We are very pleased.

Excellent at What They Do!
The owner came out to look at my trees and told me what I needed to do to treat a bug-infested Aleppo pine and deal with a Pepper and Olive tree. I was very happy with the bid so we had a deal. The crew arrived on time (!) and all four men were courteous, respectful, pleasant and knowledgeable. They worked diligently and the trimmer masterfully preserved the shape of the pine while cutting out the infested limbs. Their cleanup was professional to the point of blowers to pile up all the shavings. Green Leaf is now my "go-to" for trees.
